Insangel

Is currently booking the following venues and operating the following deal basis, please check the gig guide for availability.. over the last couple months, be it recession, be it whatever.. gig numbers have been down.. it's imperative that on accepting a show you make every effort to let your fan base know of the show and you round up your audience for the night to be a success. Don't assume we've a full house sitting waiting to see you, however as a 'promoter' i do everything i can to build up the regular audiences, but you know your freinds and fans better than me..

Booking Information

This column is just to make my life easier for bands and artists about shows and gigs they've booked with Insangel, what to and what not to expect.

Everything below is agreed to when accepting the show, failure to work within these guidelines without prior notice could result in cancelled shows or no future bookings, It's important for the future of the shows that we all work together to achieve the best nights possible. I do realise that Insangel is the promoter of the shows, but bands that make the effort with promoting and/or play the show with good results of attendance will be considered for more/better shows.

Original Bands

Gear Share / Backline / Equipment Needed.

For 'line up', 'battle of the bands' or 'showcase shows'

With regards to sharing or borrowing other bands equipment, this must be sorted prior to the gig, bands must not just arrive and expect to use other bands equipment without arranging first, any problems and the offending band may not be able to play, a full PA and monitering, mics, cabling and engineer and/or insangel rep will be at every show, bands must take responisibilty for there own backline arrangements. Usually a house kit is provided, the promoter (Phil) will arrange drum kit with a perfroming band if this is not

the case, however please be aware house kits arn't usually of high standard so if you'd prefer to use your own then please bring and be prepared to share with the other bands on the bill.

Listings

Please keep an eye on the listings on this site and find out who else it is your playing with and i'm sure you can find them on facebook or the internet somewhere to sort the arrangements, any problems give me a shout..I advise that on accepting a gig you're able to be able to bring everything you need and to be willing to share with others if needed.

Also keep an eye on the listings for future shows, if there's any you feel you'd like to do drop me a line.

Overplaying

It's extremely important for the sake of future events that bands booked to play don't play in the same city and definately not the same venue at least 10 days to 2 weeks either side of the booking (depending on the size and importance of the show, this could rize), this just halves your potential turn out at each show and brings the quality of shows down, other promoters will respect the fact you can't play a show for this reason rather than overplay and effect the show in question.

Should a show arise that you feel is a 'must do' then by all means take it, but please inform Insangel and discuss the alternative options available.

Age Restrictions

All shows are at bars/venues which operate 18+ policy unless otherwise stated Durham Live is 14+ and The Three Tuns and The Black Bull are 16+.

Free Entry Shows

When a show is 'Free Entry', basic expenses will be covered or a fee/deal in place at the time of the booking, the free entry shows have small budgets that are managed to the best they can be. You're looking at between £20-£50 depending on what i feel appropriate.

Shows With Door Charge / Advance Tickets

Bands must be willing (if asked) to sell tickets, these will be for supporting shows or line ups of a high standard.. by selling them at a full price, keeping half amounts as their payment and half towards the show costs and promoter profit. If tickets arn't an option then must happy to work on a door deal basis (generally £1-£2 a head), ocasionally financial offers / deals may be in place.

Bands must make as much of an effort to make the show booked with Insangel a priority, for the development and success of us as band bookers/promoters.

  • Guestlist is restricted to 1 guest per band member and includes anyone not in the band itself (roadies, girlfriends, parents, drivers etc).

Cover Bands / Cover Gigs

Insangel holds the regular diary for a small selected handful of venues, all of which have a developed in-house crowd, see the right hand column on the gig guide.

Insangel also receives at least 4-5 calls every weekend for covering gigs at none insangel venues which other bands have cancelled.

As a 'NEW MUSIC' booker and promoter, this rubs off in the way i work the pub cover bands, My priority are bands that are working a cover set to finance an original music side.

However, I am also looking for the best, entertaining, good song selecting, performing bands as well..

I'm sorry to say i'm not looking for any more 'Classic Rock', 'Sixties And Seventies' bands, If you've nothing post 1990/2000 in your set, please don't get in touch.

I'm looking for cover bands that are 'new and exciting', 'up for it and enthusiastic', 'wanna play as much as possible' and 'in it for the money', surely that's why you play covers and not your own stuff.

If i've not heard of or seen your band before, 'sorry, but to do my job to my best ability i need to see the band LIVE, not youtube, websites etc. I actively check out bands on a regular basis, so something would get sorted if you where interested in getting involved.. however best way for me is to book a showcase night.. If you've played for years and don't feel the need too and are playing allover allready then Insangel can't help you, you're doing well already.

Financial

With cover, tribute and corporate shows Insangel works on a 15% commission or minimum £30 booking fee. The minimum i put out a cover band out for is £250. Bands collect full amount on the night and pay me accordingly.

In Summary

I've tried to cover as much as possible here, but any questions please text 07901616185 (i haven't always time or it's not always convenient to answer calls/discuss bookings with a band i don't know). I'm not the best at hearing on the phone after 19 years of drumming, 16 of being at a gig almost every night etc etc, i work better with messages as and when i have the time each message will receive a reply and anything i need to remember i have in writing till i diary it or email phil@insangel.co.uk
