Well f**k me is it really 5 years since we started the band. Yeh it truly is 5 years since the 1st Hoax gig at Boldon Cricket club on 14th October 2000.

We have come along way since then. Playing gigs with Maximo Park, Parklandsway/Kubichek, Jetplane Landing, Chikinki, the Fight and The Golden Virgins at the radio 1 little party. Touring the North of England and Scotland extensively.

We recorded our vinyl jumpingsnotyourpreference/Fingerprints at bunker uk and reached the finals of the National Student Music Awards in 2005, jetting off to London to do a promo video, all very exciting!

A new era for the band however is just beginning, with a re-branding change of name, new website and myspace a/c and some new songs coming up before Christmas.

Described as

"frantic power pop with a sharper edge than Paul Smith's suits".

Hoax played their penultimate gig at another little party at Pure Sunderland on 25the September2005, recorded live for Utopia FM and finished on a high by winning a £££grand at the Walkabout Durham battle of the bands at their last ever gig on 27th September 2005.

Manager Phil Hughes describes the Kaikoura sound as

"A volcanic fusion of melodic power pop with rocky edge and their live show as "a 100mph eruption of brutal raw natural energy delivered with a swagger of Jagger proportions"

Kaikoura are Ben Mitchell vox, Ross Lambert drums and vox, Jonny Rob bass, Kyle Stubzi guitar and vox and Jon Douglas guitar.

Remember the name Kaikoura
